Global Sales Specialist

As a Global Sales Specialist you play a critical role in our continued growth and expansion into new and developing international markets. In this key strategic function, you will leverage your affinity for cultivating relationships, understanding client needs, strong knowledge of our suite of print and digital world-language-learning print and digital products and developing successful territory management strategies to win business within international schools and universities across the globe. As a Global Sales Specialist, you will evaluate market trends and are sensitive to the unique needs of your diverse markets and are able to artfully align solutions to exceed goals and client expectations. As such, you have well-developed presentation, territory management, consultative-selling, research and time management skills and you’re able to display a high level of creativity and flexibility. Previous experience in an international sales role is required. Previous experience in education and or publishing sales is a strong plus.


  • Closing business on a consistent basis to achieve sales quotas in an assigned territory
  • Developing and demonstrating a strong understanding of our robust suite of digital and print world-language-learning products for K-12 and higher-ed institutions
  • Developing a strong understanding of the specific needs of the schools within your territory/ markets
  • Creating and delivering persuasive sales and training presentations for both our print and digital programs and in the assigned territory
  • Exhibiting a consultative selling approach and an ability to customize presentation style to fit your audience
  • Effectively manage a large base of international business
  • Establishing good working relationships with educators including both current and potential customers
  • Working effectively with all appropriate internal resources, such as Marketing, Product, Editorial and Customer Service to satisfy customers’ needs and achieve goals
  • Keep in tune with relevant market trends within your territory and report findings to Senior Leaders
  • Updating opportunities regularly in Salesforce.com and building an effective territory database for analysis and planning
  • Participate in local and regional conferences, two national sales meetings and remote team meetings
  • Meet or exceed quota expectations


  • BA/ BS degree from a 4 year accredited University or equivalent
  • Must be self-motivated and have 3-5 years previous global sales experience (experience in publishing or ed-tech is a strong plus)
  • Ability to manage long sales cycles
  • Proficiency in French, Spanish, German or Italian a strong plus
  • Ability to effectively sell/ present to a variety of audiences and contexts (i.e. in person, over the phone, Skype, webinars etc.)
  • Ability to manage the sales process from the ground up (build a pipeline, client research, client relationships and other aspects of sales simultaneously) while managing existing accounts
  • Mastery of negotiation skills; comfortable selling to different personality types
  • Fully developed prospecting skills and consultative sales approach; focused on solution selling
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills
  • Excellent territory management skills
  • Focused, strategic, and have a desire to make an impact; you are a “glass half full” thinker
  • Proven sales skills by quota performance
  • Ability to work well independently in a home office environment
  • Some overnight travel is required, around 30% during the academic year
