Account Manager

As an Account Manager at Vista Higher Learning your mission is twofold; to provide strategic support to a small group of field based sales reps as well as engage with clients (existing and new) to manage a small portfolio of key accounts. In this unique role, you’ll provide a high level of pre and post-sale support, work closely with your assigned reps to develop and execute specific territory plans, organize client workshops, deliver product trainings, assist with pipeline management and flex your relationship building muscles. Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Strategically support the sales representative to achieve goals, identify new opportunities across their territory and to design and follow through on an action plan for attracting and retaining new clients.
  • Execute a range of pre and post-sales activities, including prospecting, market research, networking and relationship management.
  • Manage existing client relationships closely, acting as the client’s first point of contact and collaborating with other internal stakeholders to ensure that the client has an excellent customer experience.
  • Deliver product training to clients in person and offsite (through webinars) at the direction of the sales representative.
  • Oversee a number of smaller accounts; provide ongoing relationship management, use creative consulting skills to upsell and cross sell within existing accounts and use active listening skills to understand client needs / feedback.
  • Provide seamless support to the sales representative by proactively updating them on account activity, potential issues or requests and anticipating needs. Appropriately manage or escalate critical issues.
  • Effectively use CRM (Salesforce.com) to track sales opportunities, analyze account activity and ensure data is maintained accurately.  
  • Create customized collateral / material (e.g. presentations) which assist in the sales process, working with other internal departments, such as Marketing, when needed. 
  • Maintain an excellent product knowledge base while also keeping up to date on market / regional trends and the evolving needs of customers.
  • Attend conferences and events for the purpose of networking / building and maintaining strong client relationships.

Required Skills, Knowledge & Experience:

  • BA/ BS degree from a 4 year accredited university or equivalent.
  • 5+ years of experience in high‐volume sales support (non-retail) or account management. Experience in  world languages is a strong plus!
  • Some prior experience in an inside-sales role is a strong plus
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills coupled with equally strong interpersonal skills
  • Ability to create and deliver effective sales presentations
  • Strong organization and time‐management skills coupled with excellent attention to detail and follow‐through skills
  • Strong sales support/ customer service orientation
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office products, video-conferencing tools and CRM (experience with Salesforce.com is ideal).
  • Ability to travel (about 15%).
  • A true team-player who is focused, strategic and has a desire to support a team in achieving aggressive goals with a ‘glass half-full’ approach.
