Associate Editor

As a key member of our dynamic Editorial team, the Associate Editor will partner closely with team members on a variety of projects and initiatives related to research, copyediting, copywriting, and more. In addition to monitoring and coordinating the progress of ongoing projects, you will also provide editorial and administrative support to the team as well as develop, edit, and select engaging and relevant content for our Spanish materials and programs. Our ideal candidate possesses a keen eye for grammar (in English and Spanish), be extremely detail oriented, and have exceptional project management, time management, organization, and communication skills. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals who have a true passion for languages / education and would like to have a real impact on language learning.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Prepare manuscripts, tearsheets, photo specs, audio scripts, and bookmaps for delivery
  • Create transcripts and translations of video material
  • Research television clips, short films, and / or literary readings for inclusion in products; research other ad hoc projects as needed
  • Write activities and articles and copyedit materials for publication in accordance with corporate guidelines
  • Collaborate with in-house Editorial Development and Project Management teams
  • File and store critical electronic manuscript files and all relevant print materials in a secure and appropriate manner
  • Track and enter data in Microsoft Excel and other systems
  • Participate in team meetings
  • Provide administrative support to Executive Editor as needed
  • Contribute to other projects and tasks, as needed

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Bachelors degree required
  • Native Spanish with near-native fluency (written and verbal) in English required
  • 1+ year(s) prior professional experience in project management, editing, or research required
  • Excellent writing, grammar, spelling, proofreading, communication, and presentation skills required
  • Excellent organizational, prioritization, attention to detail, accuracy, and time-management skills required
  • Able to balance and track multiple ongoing projects simultaneously
  • Solid knowledge of Microsoft Office suite required with strong experience in Excel
  • Experience with Adobe, K4, or InDesign a strong plus
  • Prior teaching experience a strong plus
  • Self-motivated with exceptional multitasking skills and ability to effectively work with multiple teams
  • A passion for travel and languages
