Senior Accountant

We are seeking a highly motivated and pro-active Senior Accountant to join our close knit accounting team and support our growing organization. As an experienced accountant, you will use your astute accounting knowledge to support the monthly, quarterly and annual general ledger closings, post journal entries, process reconciliations and support all audits. In addition, you will use your keen understanding of accounting ‘best practice’ to actively participate in the development of our processes and controls. Our ideal candidate is a team player with a curiosity for process improvement, who enjoys working towards deadlines, is able to effectively balance multiple priorities in a fast paced environment and has an eye for detail.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist with monthly, quarterly and annual G/L closings; prepare and enter journal entries and monitor deadlines closely to ensure timely close.
  • Prepare monthly/quarterly reconciliations of assigned balance sheet accounts including all cash accounts.
  • Assist the Accounting Manager with the analysis and preparation of Financial Statements.
  • Provide back up for the bi-weekly payroll process (within ADP), working closely with the Staff Accountant and Human Resources.
  • Maintain the fixed asset ledger and review monthly general ledger detail.
  • Serve as a liaison for external audits including the annual year end and 401k audits.
  • Assist the Accounting Manager and Controller with special projects and reports as needed, providing high level accounting support.
  • Update, implement and maintain accounting policies and procedures.

Required Skills, Knowledge & Experience:

  • BS in Accounting with (MBA or CPA certification preferred).
  • 5-7 years of progressive accounting experience in a high volume environment.
  • Advanced experience with and knowledge of G/L accounting including monthly & year-end closings, financial statement development and analysis.
  • Experience managing payroll (ADP experience preferred).
  • A high degree of diligence, fastidious attention to detail, strong analytical, problem solving and organizational skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong computer skills, with a deep understanding of Microsoft Office products and advanced MS Excel skills.
  • Excellent organization skills, attention to detail and proactive problem solver!
  • Ability to work with large volumes of data without compromising accuracy.
  • Experience with Great Plains is advantageous.
