Jimmy Moorhead

K—12 Regional Manager, Central

A study-abroad experience in Querétaro, Mexico during college changed the course of my career. I was changed not only by learning Spanish, but also by exposure to a different perspective outside of the USA. After college I taught in a first grade, bilingual, self-contained classroom at Isaac School District 5 in Phoenix, Arizona. Teaching literacy and other subjects in Spanish to young learners was rewarding and stretched my language skills. Not long into my teaching career, I took a position with Santillana USA that allowed me to share my passion for quality learning materials for Spanish native, heritage, and world language courses with teachers. The people I’ve met and learned from in the educational language field, both customers and colleagues alike, have had a lasting impact on me. I am fortunate to manage a team of diligent, dedicated Modern Language Specialists who are committed to supporting teachers. Working for Santillana USA—and now Vista Higher Learning—changes me every day in many of the same ways as that first study-abroadexperience. I look forward to the adventure as this sendero unfolds!
