My passion for modern languages stems from their ability to open doors and create opportunities in life. The study of languages helps one communicate both passionately and intelligently with others from outside of one’s own culture.
I like to think that those of us who take risks in life are likely to be rewarded with the satisfaction of those very deeds, and those risks are oftentimes the actions by which we are most remembered. My favorite phrase in Latin, which encapsulates this idea, is Fortes fortuna adiuvat, Fortune favors the brave (or the strong), by Terence.
